What's New

The Prince George Rod & Gun Club is constructing a world class shooting facility in the area of Mount Baldy Hughes, south of Prince George, British Columbia.

The safety and range area for this facility incorporates approximately 750+  acres.

Currently we are considering opening the Baldy Hughes Range to long range rifle shooting (300-600 yards). In order to make this a reality we need to have strict supervision in place during all shooting. What we are looking for are volunteers to go out to the range and supervise.

1000 Meter Range

Use: The facility will be used for firearm competitions, practice and training. The site will serve a region that includes well over 10,000 potential public firearm users under the auspices of the club. It would also be available for the use by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Corrections, Sheriffs, Departments of National Defense, Conservation Officers, and other professional agencies through arrangement with the club. Members of the public would be eligible to use this facility in accordance with the rules of the range and bylaws of the Prince George Rod & Gun Club.

Site Justification: Existing facilities do not provide uses that this long range would offer. The site selected contains a dominant topographical feature a mountain for a back stop. The proposed range facility would be a world class facility that would attract a variety of users to this area. It would be designed with the best interests of the shooting community, environment and public safety in mind.

The 1000 meter center-fire range opening has been delayed due to construction such as: logging, road building and now rock blasting to level the center portion of the range. Updates will be given as construction progresses. We would like to open the range now but shooting activities would conflict with construction and workers getting the job completed.
